Dachoo Hirpora residents rue lack of basic facilities
Shopian: The residents of Dachoo village in Hirpora hamlet of south Kashmir’s Shopian district have complained of lack of facilities in the village.
Locals claim that despite living just eight kilometres away from district headquarters they have been left alone by the administration as no basic facilities are being provided to the residents.
They said that even in 21st century they are without basic amenities as since last 60 years several politicians visited the village for votes but no one cared for ensuring any developmental works in the area.
They said that there is no proper road connectivity to the area due to which they are suffering and whenever there is a medical emergency the people have to carry the ailing person on a cart for several kilometres so that he can be brought to a hospital.
Aijaz Ahmad, a local resident said that they are living a miserable life as no one comes to their rescue.
“Our village has been neglected on the developmental front as it lacks proper road connectivity and proper potable drinking water supply,” he said.
“We are treated like animals as no attention is being provided towards our village despite repeated visits to the offices of concerned officials,” they added.
Besides lack of roads no proper electricity or water facilities are provided to the residents,” said an elderly local resident.
“Despite no proper electricity facility in the area, we are receiving bills of Rs 500-600 per month which is injustice towards us as we belong to financially weaker section and have fewer sources of income,” he added.
Locals said that they have brought these issues to the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
They once again requested higher ups to look into the matter so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
