KVIB organises awareness, sensitization program at Kah Potha

JAMMU: Awareness cum sensitization program was Saturday organised by J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav here at Kah Potha to inform the unemployed youth of the area about different self-employment schemes being implemented by the board.
Awareness programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Dy.CEO J&K KVIB Jammu Division, Tilak Raj. District Officer Vakil Dass and other officers of the Board, Sarpanch, Amjad Begh, PRIs, Ex-servicemen and a large number of unemployed youth attended the awareness camp.
The Theme of the programme was “From Swadeshi to Aatmanirbhar Bharat-A Journey By The People of The India.”
The Deputy CEO impressed upon the unemployed youth and the budding entrepreneurs to come forward to avail the benefits of self employment schemes to start their employment generating ventures.
Elaborating the schemes, he said that under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) and Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) schemes, the applicant is provided 25 to 35% subsidy with assistance up to Rs 25 lakh and Rs 10 lakh for manufacturing and services sectors ventures, respectively. He further said that these schemes also envision reducing migration of the people from rural to urban areas in search of job opportunities. He further informed that both the schemes are online and people can avail the benefits from their home without visiting offices.
The Secretary also mentioned that J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board is the Nodal Agency for implementing funds for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) for UT of J&K. He urged the NGOs, Trusts and registered Societies to come forward for revitalization of the traditional vanishing industries under these schemes by formation of clusters.
