Div Com Kashmir kick-starts Cleanliness drive under SBA

SHOPIAN: Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole Wednesday kick-started Cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) in the vicinity of Zero Point of the Shopian town.
People from different sections of the society including social activists, NGOs and spiritual leaders came forward and joined the mass movement.
The Div Com on the occasion praised the efforts by people and various departments and organizations for taking part in the Swachh Bharat Mission. He felicitated and praised ‘Eco guards’ who help in keeping our environment clean and green.
The Div Com was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar; Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir, Mathoora Masoom; Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritpal Singh; President MC Shopian, Subash Koul and several other officers.
The Div Com also inaugurated Children’s Park, Open Air Gym and started a green Shopian campaign from Circuit House, Chowgam.
He also met a number of public delegations.
On the occasion, Executive Officer, Municipal Council Shopian, Suhail Malik apprised the Div Com about the work being done on sanitation and anti-polythene campaign in the district.
The Div Com complimented the District Administration Shopian and Municipal Council Shopian for their commitment to make Shopian polythene free district.
Meanwhile, Div Com has also launched an afforestation campaign organized by Municipal Council Shopian in collaboration with the Forest Department. On the occasion, saplings were planted to initiate the eco green mission on the banks of Nallah Rambiara.
During his address, the Div Com urged the participants to fully support the government’s initiative to clean up the environment. He said that polythene and single use plastics should be banned in government offices and the officers should play their key role in cleaning up the environment.
