Late night raids conducted to prevent illegal mining: Officials
ANANTNAG: Continuing the raids on transporters involved in illegal mining, Tehsildar Kokernag on being informed about the illegal mining activity conducted raid during night hours on 08 March, 2022 and instantly approached the spot along with other revenue officials and seized several tractors at Gadol, officials said.
No leniency shall be provided to those who are trying to loot the natural resources and cause irreparable damage to the ecology, said Tehsildar Kokernag.
As per Jammu and Kashmir Minor Mineral Concession, Storage, Transport of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules (2016), only those transporters can transport minor minerals that have proper NOC from Irrigation/Flood Control Department or have challan duly signed by District Mineral Officer.
The raids are conducted in pursuance to the order of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to prevent such illegal activities in the district.
