‘Cybercrimes against Women’ : Women College Gandhi Nagar hosts Seminar

JAMMU: Department of Computer Applications Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar, in collaboration with IQAC organized a seminar on ‘Cybercrimes against Women’ here under the aegis of “Cyber Jaagrookta (Awareness) Divas”.
The program was held under the patronage of the College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sangita Nagari. She delivered the welcome address and congratulated the organizing Committee for hosting the seminar related to women issues on cybercrime to mark International Women’s Day.
She also applauded the Ministry of Home Affairs and Higher Education Department J&K for implementing the scheme “Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C)” to deal with cybercrime in a coordinated and comprehensive manner.
Further, she stressed upon the students to participate actively in these types of activities to gain awareness regarding cyber world and cybercrimes.
Dr. Preeti Dubey was the resource person in the seminar. In her talk, Dr. Preeti deliberated on the rise in various cybercrimes with women such as cyber stalking, cyber obscenity, cyber sextortion, email spoofing, cyber trolling, etc. She also discussed the right and secure use of the internet and other devices to prevent oneself from cybercrimes and cyber attacks.
Mohammad Yaseen Kichloo, SSP Security, Civil Secretariat J&K was the chief guest on the occasion. He also addressed the audience and explained various provisions of the IT Act. Several queries of the students on cybercrimes were also responded to by speakers. The staff and students of the college actively participated in the seminar. A total of 115 students and 30 staff members were present.
