Jmu-Sgr highway closed, reopened after few hours

Srinagar: The 270-kilometre Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed for traffic due to shooting stones at Panthyal area of Ramban district, traffic officials said, adding that the highway was thrown open for traffic later in the afternoon.
“Jammu—Srinagar National Highway is closed for vehicular movement due to shooting stones at Panthyal area of Ramban,” a traffic official said.
“Road clearance agencies have pressed men and machinery and efforts are on to make the highway traffic worthy” he said.
“Due to heavy shooting stone a steel tunnel suffered damage on National highway,”the official said.
“Intending travelers are advised not to undertake the journey without contacting the traffic control room in Srinagar and Jammu to verify the latest status of the highway”, he added.
Moreover, the highway was later thrown open for the vehicular movement after the road was cleared. (KNO)
