Unsafe Sakhras-Fudda bridge gives tough time to commuters
Anantnag: The closure of Bailey bridge for vehicular movement at Sakhras in Srigufwara area of Anantnag district is giving tough time to commuters.
Locals from Sakhras, Fudda, Srigufwara and its adjacent areas said that bridge on Lidder Nallah at Sakhras was closed for vehicular movement in January this year.
They said since then people of dozens of villages living in the area are suffering and they face huge inconvenience while commuting.
The locals added that the bridge is connecting Dachnipora belt with Khoveripora belt and due to closure, people of both areas are witnessing difficulties while commuting.
They said around two months have passed since the bridge was closed but no work has been started for repair or construction of new bridge there.
They added that every day dozens of vehicles get stuck in middle of nallah who try to cross it and it takes hours together to get them out of it.
“We have brought this issue in notice of higher ups several times but still no work has been started to upgrade the bridge,” they said.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter and start work on the bridge immediately so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
