Police arrests seven drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police on Saturday arrested seven drug peddlers in Sopore, Kulgam and Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that police personnel at a checkpoint established at Zindri Crossing in Sopore intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK04D-7480 with two persons on board. During checking, officers were able to recover 144 tablets of Spasmoproxyvon Plus from their possession. They have been identified as Basit Ahmad Lone and Mudasir Ahmad Ganie both residents of Tujjar Sopore.
In Kulgam, three drug peddlers were arrested in two separate incidents. A police party at a checkpoint established at Nippora Mirbazar intercepted two persons identified as Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Sadoora Qazigund and a woman (name with held) and recovered 5Kgs of Poppy Straw and 4gms of Brown sugar from their possession.
Similarly in another action, officers from Police Station Qazigund intercepted a person during naka checking at Dalwach identified as Javid Ahmad Dar@Jaani son of Mohammad Shaban Dar resident of Berigam. During checking, officers were able to recover 4kgs of Poppy Straw from their possession.
In Ganderbal police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Officers from Police Post Shadipora at a checkpoint established near Wakoora intercepted two persons who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party.
During checking, officers were able to recover 140 grams of Charas and 2Kgs of Cannabis powder from their possession. They have been identified as Tanveer Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Altaf Bhat resident of Wakoora Ganderbal and Fayaz Ahmad Malla son of Ghulam Rasool Malla resident of Rakhi Shilwat Sumbal Bandipora. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 43/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman said.
