Police arrests four drug peddlers

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday arrested four drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Sopore and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that police personnel at a checkpoint established near Shadipora Bridge intercepted two persons in a suspicious manner who tried to flee away from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party.
During checking, officers were able to recover 24 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from their possession. They have been identified as Mohammad Yaseen Ganai son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie and Mohammad Younis Ganie son of Mohammad Rafiq Ganie both residents of Arampora Sumbal.
Similarly in Sopore, officers from PP Watergam at a checkpoint established at Ladoora crossing intercepted one person identified as Bilal Ahmad Ganie son of Munawar Ahmad Ganie resident of Ladoora Rafiabad. During checking, officers were able to recover 1520 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon tablets from his possession.
All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
In Sopore police arrested a notorious drug peddler who was evading arrest for a long time.
Acting on specific input about the presence of a notorious drug peddler who was evading his arrest since long time, a police team led managed to arrest the accused person identified as Muhammad Rafiq Lone son of Muhammad Yousuf Lone resident of Nadihal Rafiabad.
The accused has been produced before the competent court and has been remanded to police custody for further questioning, the spokesman added.
