Power woes end in Anantnag as much awaited receiving station commissioned

Anantnag: After a long wait of around four year, the power receiving station at Ara Khushipora in Anantnag district has been made functional which has ended power paucity in the area.
An official working on the project said that it was part of Prime Ministry Development Package and approved under Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) for rural electrification few years back.
He said that around 20 crore was spent on the project which includes two receiving station and distribution work of around 45 habitations. Besides, a cost of around Rs 3.5 crore wa also incurred for constructing a power station at Ara Khushipora.
He said that power supply for the receiving station is coming from Hiller Shahabad which is around 7.5 km from the area.
He said that the department after conducting various test runs has made the receiving station functional which has provided a major relief to around half dozen villages.
People of Ara Khushipora, Dehruna, Hakoora, Badasgam, Palpora, and other adjoining areas have thanked the authorities for making the station functional and said that their problems like unscheduled power cuts and voltage drop have been solved.
Sheikh Nadeem, a local resident said that finally the long pending demand of the area was met and the receiving station was made functional.
He said that since this station was made functional, locals have heaved a sigh of relief as the entire belt was not witnessing a regular power supply and was rather witnessing unscheduled power cuts in the area.
