Police arrests four drug peddlers

Srinagar: Police in a series of actions arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
He said that police personnel arrested four drug peddlers identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Ahmad Shah resident of Shah Mohalla Nihalpora, Amandeep Singh son of Jaqtar Singh resident of Hoshiarpur Punjab, Aqib Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh resident of Sheikh Mohallah Mahin and Sameer Ahmad Sheikh son of Gulab Sheikh resident of Hawal Srinagar and recovered 05 Kgs of Poppy Straw and 385 grams of Charas from their possession.
Besides, police also seized a vehicle (Maruti Ertiga) bearing registration No PB07BC-8625 used in the commission of crime. All the arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, the spokesman added.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Pattan, Tangmarg and Kunzer in this regard. Further investigations have been initiated, he said.
