Mushroom Cultivation: Training program on Quality Spawn Production held at SKUAST-J
JAMMU: Two day training programme on production of Quality Spawn for Mushroom Cultivation was held Wednesday at Mushroom Unit, SKUAST-J here under the aegis of State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI).
The training programme was held for the officers of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu and Director SAMETI.
The trainees were given hands-on training on various aspects of quality spawn production of different mushrooms.
During the training programme special lectures and practical sessions were held on media and substrate preparation for spawn production. The participants were exposed to the technical advancements in the field of spawn production like liquid spawn.
Interactive sessions were held between the experts and the participants in which the participants clarified their doubts on the quality parameters of spawn and the practical problems that they encounter in spawn production.
The training programme was coordinated by Dr. Sachin Gupta, Associate Professor and Course Coordinator under the guidance and convenorship of Prof. Amrish Vaid, Head, Division of Plant Pathology. The participants of the training programme expressed great satisfaction and hoped for early establishment of more spawn production laboratories in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir so that the dependency of mushroom growers on spawn laboratories of other states is reduced.
Cultural Unit Srinagar of DIPR organise ‘Sufiyana Mousiqui’ programme

SRINAGAR: To carry the mission of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ forward, the Cultural Unit Srinagar of DIPR Wednesday organised a Sufiyana Mousiqui (Manqabat e Imam E Aali muqam) on the eve of birth anniversary of Shah e Wilayet, Hazrat Ali (kw) at the Cultural Activity Hall, of Joint Director Information, Rambagh.
The Manqabat was presented by Mushtaq Saznawaz, SCA while as Gh. Mohmmad Bhat, Music Composer and Gh. Mohideen Khanday, SCA played Sarangi and Gadda respectively.
The officers and officials of the department participated in the event.
