Three drug peddlers held : Police

Srinagar: Police has arrested three drug peddlers in Ganderbal, Awantipora and Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Shallabugh Ganderbal intercepted a suspicious person identified as Umar Rashid Laway son of Abdul Rashid resident of Shallabugh Ganderbal.
During checking, officers were able to recover 3.7 Kgs of crushed cannabis from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

In Awantipora, a police party at a checkpoint established at Kadlabal Pampore intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mohammad Ayoub Akhoon son of Bashir Ahmad Akhoon resident of Tulbagh Pampore. During checking, officers were able to recover 5.7 grams (suspected to be Heroin) from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Meanwhile in Handwara, 4kgs of cannabis was recovered during search operation launched by police in Village Guloora Langate. The contraband substance was found concealed in a suspicious bag in the shop of Mohammad Akbar Malik son of Mohammad Abdulla Malik resident of Guloora. The accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Station and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
