Police arrests four drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police has arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
Police personnel at a checkpoint established at Sunman bridge Yaripora intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number JK03C-6043 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Sheraz Ahmad Lone resident of Tungduno, Kamaljeet Singh resident of Nowshehra Punjab and Charanjeet Singh resident of Hushyarpur Punjab. During search, officers were able to recover 16Kgs of Poppy Straw and a grinder from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman added.
In Baramulla, officers from Police Station Pattan arrested one person identified as Reyaz Ahmad Gojri son of Late Gh Mohammad Gojri resident of Pattan and recovered 15 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and 144 capsules of banned drugs from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman said.
