Set an example
A murderous assault rather worse than murderous assault, was reported on Tuesday when some rowdy, unruly and inhuman persons attacked a young woman in old city area of Srinagar by throwing acid on her face.
The incident sent shock waves among the people here as the incident has left the young women completely devastated for life. Doctors attending on her have claimed that nothing can be said about the young woman even retaining her eyesight besides that her entire face has witnessed damage due to the murderous assault.
The incident though gruesome and dreadful has meant that a life has been devastated and even the entire family members of the young woman have been left to witness the pain and agony for years to come. This incident has made headlines and is even being discussed at various levels, but one thing that one witnesses is that there has been very little or least reaction in the society over this murderous and inhuman act.
The incident needs to be condemned by one and all and an action against the beasts who are involved in such an inhuman act needs to be put up collectively so that such attacks can be avoided and curtailed once and for all.
At the first place we need to rise collectively as a conscious society and raise our voice against such actions no matter what cost we have to pay for this. We need to be conscious about the how the young population needs to reform itself about taking such harsh decisions that will in the long run harm us as a society having humanistic values.
We also need to understand that human life is precious and no one has the right to take action or indulge in such acts where the life of a person ends up in jeopardy. This needs to be told to our male young ones so that the society as a whole is not portrayed as a beastly one.
Attacking a young woman using acid smells how deep rooted the rot lies in our society where the male members feels free and at will to go to any extent no matter what cost and damage it may bring to the fairer sex.
Though lecturing about the recent attack and our efforts to minimize such incidents to a zero level may seem something of a tradition but the reality is that we need to rope in our young boys and men and inform them about the teaching of Islam vis-à-vis rights of our fellow beings.
The government too on its part needs to be extremely strict and meticulous on such acts and bring in legislations that will ensure that all such acts are tried in a set time limit and highest grade of punishment is handed over to those who involve in such inhuman acts. It needs to set an example so that no body dares to attempt such an act in future.
The incident that happened on Tuesday should shame us all and imbibe in us a spirit that we need to raise our voice against such inhuman acts no matter what cost we may have to bear.
The incident is reflective of the fact that how low our morals and ethics have fallen over the years and how critical it is for us to rise to the occasion and help restore sanity amidst our society.
