Bhatnoor Tral residents complain scarcity of potable water

Pulwama: The residents of Bismeni Bhatnoor village in Tral hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are facing scarcity of potable water since last several years, the locals said.
The residents of the village said that they are forced to drink contaminated water as four existing water reservoirs in the area have developed leakage years back and as such the water is not retained in them for treatment purposes.
They said that there are many households who were getting supply from one scheme which is defunct since many years now.
They added that there are many households who are connected through pipelines but these pipelines are dry since they were installed.
They further added that many households who neither were connected with older scheme nor they have been connected through new pipelines and as such they too are not getting potable water.
Shakeel Ahmad a local resident said that they are forced to drink contaminated water and the women folk is forced to tread for kilometers to fetch drinking water.
He said that they have brought this issue into the notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.
Locals requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and take immediate steps for providing potable water to the area.
They also requested them to repair the reservoirs too so that households connected with them can get water supply again.
