Police arrests four drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police has arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that officers at a checkpoint established near Kund gate in Qazigund area of Kulgam intercepted a person roaming in a suspicious condition. He was identified as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Sattar Bhat resident of Khargund Qazigund. During checking, officers were able to recover 10 gram of Brown Sugar from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In another action, a police party of PS Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Laroo Crossing intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing police party tried to escape from the spot but alert party apprehended him tactfully. During checking, 12Kgs of Poppy Straw, 03 grams of Brown Sugar and Digital Weighing Machine concealed in a nylon bag were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Sarwar Ahmad Bhat @Sar Molvi son of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat resident of Labripora Kulgam. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Meanwhile in Budgam, officers intercepted two suspicious persons at a checkpoint established at Bathar Budgam. During their personal search, officers were able to recover 335gms of Charas covered in maize leaves from their possession. They have been identified as Gulzar Ahmed Paul son of Abdul Rehman Paul and Nisar Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar both residents of Narkara Budgam. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigation have been taken up, the spokesman added.
