Babhara Pulwama residents demand better drainage facilities

Pulwama: Residents of Babhara village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have alleged lack of drainage facilities in the village.
The residents of the area which is located at a distance of just 1.5 km from Pulwama town, said that the village lacks proper drainage facilities due to which the locals are facing lot of problems.
“Due to poor drainage system, we face a lot of problems particularly during rains and snow as all the inner roads get submerged in storm water,” Bilal Ahmad, a local resident said.
He said that in times of emergency, locals have to bear the brunt besides people going to Masjids to offer prayers are also facing lot of inconvenience.
The locals said despite being the nearest place of district headquarters, it has been neglected by the authorities.
Despite repeated requests to the officials in the Rural development department in this regard, no action was taken or a new drainage project sanctioned for the village, they said.
Due to apathy of the concerned departments, the existing drains remain overflowing and chocked in village, thus causing immense problems for us, they added.
The people demanded that the concerned departments should take notice of their grievances and mitigate their sufferings.
