Notorious drug peddler detained under PSA

Srinagar: Police in Baramulla have arrested 14 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession. Besides, a notorious drug peddler was detained under PSA, a police spokesman said Monday.
Acting on specific information, police parties from Police Station Kunzer and Police Station Pattan raided gambling sites at Takiya Batpora, Hardu Aboora, Hanjiwera Bala and Kripalpora Payeen following an input about gambling activities and apprehended 14 gamblers, the spokesman said.
Officers have seized stake money of ₹36,440/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation is in progress, the spokesman said.
Moreover, a notorious drug peddler identified as Muzamil Majeed Bhat @Hashim son of Abdul Majeed Bhat resident of Mohalla Mir Sahib Baramulla was detained under PSA for his active involvement in drug peddling activities in Baramulla Town. Several cases under NDPS Act stands already registered against him. He has been lodged at Central Jail Kot Bilwal Jammu under detention orders received from Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, the spokesman added.
