Police recovers abducted girl within hours, accused held
Srinagar: Police on Tuesday recovered an abducted girl and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime, a police spokesman said.
He said that police in Awantipora received a written complaint wherein the complainant stated that his daughter has been kidnapped by one person identified as Sanju Singh son of Rai Singh resident of Pundail Gurdaspore Punjab.
Accordingly, on receipt of the complaint, a case vide FIR No. 03/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, a police party headed by SHO PS Awantipora with the assistance of technical team tracked down the location of the accused person in Banihal area, the spokesman added.
Immediately a police team was dispatched to Banihal to rescue the abducted girl. The team was able to recover the kidnapped girl from Sheer Bebi Banihal and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime within five hours.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Further investigation into the matter is in progress, the spokesman added.
