Pulwama: The residents of Kumar Mohalla in Arigam village of Tral hamlet in Pulwama district are up in arms against PDD as they have alleged that authorities aren’t installing 63 KVA transformer in the area which is lying there since the past 20 days.
Locals said that Kumar Mohalla which consists of around 30 households is reeling under darkness as their service line gets damaged frequently.
They said that a new transformer was approved way before for the village and after hectic efforts it was brought to village around 20 days back but due to unknown reasons it is not being installed.
Ishfaq Ahmad, a local resident said that on Monday hundreds of people had a miraculous escape after a LT line snapped in main chowk when people were taking a body for burial towards a graveyard.
He said that one hardly can mention a day when the transmission lines don’t get damaged due to which power supply remains disconnected for hours.
Locals said that they have brought the issues of dangling wires and other related matters in notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer, (AEE) Mohammad Maqbool Ahangar, when contacted said that they have already installed one transformer in the area while in case of the other transformer, the people are yet undecided as to where exactly should the transformer be installed.
He added that transmission lines will also be provided to the area wherever it is required.
