Three drug peddlers held in Sopore
Baramulla: Police on Friday arrested three notorious drug peddlers in Sopore and recovered contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that officers from Police Post Watergam at a checkpoint established near petrol pump Watergam Rafiabad intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05D-6444 with three persons on board.
They persons were identified as Tariq Ahmad Lone, Muhammad Iqbal Lone both the residents of Naidhal Rafiabad and Nazir Ahmad Bhat son of Muhammad Akbar Bhat resident of Hanga Handwara.
During checking, officers were able to recover 48 capsules and 94 tablets of banned drug and 3 grams of brown sugar from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 02/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation has been initiated, he added.
