JKAACL organises Punjabi Kavi Darbar

JAMMU: On the second day of 4-day Poetry Festival, a UT level Punjabi Kavi Darbar was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages here at K L Saigal Hall, Friday afternoon.
The event was presided over by renowned Punjabi poet and writer Ajit Singh Mastana. Punjabi poet Harjeet Singh, Dr. A S Amn, Additional Secretary and Dr. Javaid Rahi, Chief Editor of JKAACL were in the presidium.
In his presidential address, Ajeet Singh Mastana said that the Punjabi Kavi Darbar has provided a platform to poets of different regions of J&K to recite their poems in front of young and upcoming writers. He appreciated the Academy for its endeavor to develop regional languages. He said organising a literary festival in different languages of the region will promote regional local culture and languages like Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.
Dr. Javaid Rahi, in his welcome address, stated that the objective of this event is to develop and propagate the poetic tradition of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the Academy is going to hold more mega events in 2022.
Dr. A S Amn said that it was a historic event wherein over 100 poets drawn from all areas of Jammu and Kashmir are participating.”Today they discussed Punjabi literary tradition and its movements with special regard to Punjabi poetry” he added.
