Pulwama village reels under darkness, allege locals

Pulwama: The residents of Herpora Rakh village in Litter hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are up in arms against PDD as the authorities have failed to repair their damaged transformer that according to them is developing technical snags frequently.
Inhabitants said that power development department has miserably failed to repair their transformer fully saying that it has failed to resolve frequent damage to the common electric transformer located in the area.
Locals said that transformer which was installed here few years back is developing technical snags almost on daily basis since the past one month.
They said that on our own money we repaired transformer several times but it gets damaged again and again.
“We pooled in resources at our end and ensured that the transformer is repaired and put to use. But the same gets damaged after some days and people have to reel under complete darkness,” locals alleged.
“Board and university exams are going on besides during cold conditions, electricity is a must but authorities have failed to take our issues seriously,” they said.
They further added that time and again authorities of the department were informed to look into the matter, however, on ground nothing happened.
The locals urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and provide adequate power supply to the area.
An official of the PDD said that due to heavy load the transformer gets damaged again and again.
He said that department is working to check out power thefts and other issues in the area and very soon the issue will be resolved.
