Capacity Building Programme held for employees of JKLSA

JAMMU: J&K Legal Services Authority under the dynamic patronage of Justice Pankaj Mithal, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Patron-in Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority and able guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Executive Chairman J&K Legal Services Authority, organized one day capacity building programme for its employees on “Use and Implementation of Legal Services Mobile App & NALSA LSMS portal”.
The idea of organizing the programme was to educate the functionaries of Legal Service Institutions across the UT of J&K about the use and implementation of citizen centric apps launched by NALSA, so that people can easily approach the Legal Services Institutions and get their grievances redressed expeditiously.
Member Secretary, NALSA, Ashok Kumar Jain in his inaugural address outlined the role of Legal Services Institutions in reaching out to the marginalized section of society so that they can have easy access to justice. He further emphasized that a little effort can cause upswing in the life of needy and downtrodden and how wonderful it is when you are part of reason for that positive change by service to humanity.
Member Secretary, J&K Legal Service Authority, M. K. Sharma in his welcome address stated that Legal Services Management System application is an interface launched by NALSA for citizens to apply online for free legal aid, track the status of the application online and send reminders/clarifications. It also provides an interface for all authorities/committees to manage the application, Lawyers panel, and data related to legal services schemes, and funds received and transferred and generate various statistical reports.
He further stated that J&K Legal Services Authority has received 2263 applications on NALSA portal till date, out of which 1378 have been settled and 885 cases are pending disposal. He emphasized that J&K Legal Services Authority is trying its best to utilize the services of this portal for redressing the online grievances of the people who apply for legal aid.
Kamal Singh, Under Secretary, NALSA and Mukhtar Ahmed were resource persons in this capacity building programme; which would help in improving the legal services to the needy.
