Police arrests three drug peddlers in Kulgam

Srinagar: Police on Monday arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam district and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said.

He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Laroo intercepted a Load Carrier bearing registration number JK03J-9355 with two persons on board.

During search, officers were able to recover 21Kgs of poppy straw from their possession. They have been identified as Umer Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar resident of Butt Tachloo and Aadil Ahmad Makroo son of Abdul Rashid Makroo resident of Rahpora Khudwani. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

The Load Carrier used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman said.

In another action, a police party at a checkpoint established at Choimulla arrested a suspicious person who tried to flee after noticing the police. He has been identified as Abdul Rashid Shah son of Late Abdul Kabir Shah resident of Guchchan Sheikhpora, Shishtergam.

During search, 270gms of Charas was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in respective police stations and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
