Police arrests notorious drug peddler
Srinagar: Police on Friday arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession in Handwara area of north Kashmir, a police spokesman said.
He said that a police party during a routine checking at a checkpoint at Chotipora intercepted a vehicle (Swift) bearing registration number JK01S 7022 driven by Tanveer Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Ishaq resident of Gulgam Kupwara.
During checking, officers were able to recover 50 grams of Heroin from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 363/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Handwara and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added
