Police arrests drug peddler in Handwara

Srinagar: Police Saturday arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession in north Kashmir’s Handwara area, a police spokesman said.
He said that a police party during patrolling on Baramulla-Handwara highway near Wangam Kralgund intercepted a suspicious person identified as Abdul Hamid Sheikh son of Abdul Rashid resident of Kachloo.
During search, 12 grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kralgund where he remains in custody, the spokesman said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 78/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation has been initiated.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused person is a hardcore drug peddler and involved in supplying drugs among youth of the area, the spokesman added.
