Shopian village seeks drinking water facility

Shopian: A village which is just few kilometres away from district headquarters in Shopian is carving for drinking water facility.
Residents of Manzimpora village which is about 4 kms from Shopian town have alleged that tall claims made by Jal Shakti Department regarding the potable water supply provided to the area are proving hoax as the village is craving for drinking water facility.
The locals said that the authorities have ‘failed’ to provide them drinking water facility despite repeated requests to the higher ups and assurances provided from them from time to time.
The inhabitants said that the village is without drinking water facility as Jal Shakti Department has failed to provide them drinking water facility.
They said that after repeated protests a well was constructed in the area to provide water in the area however, the water is highly contaminated.
They added that well is several hundred meters away from the portion of the village which is having no access to potable water.
They said that a water tank is also sent to the area but it fails to cater to the whole village.
The locals further said that they approached the concerned authorities several times, requesting them to provide drinking water to the village, but to no avail.
One of the residents said that almost 250 households are without drinking water facility due to which locals are facing immense hardships.
Locals here have urged the concerned authorities to look into the issue so that they could witness some relief during this chill winter days.
