Four drug peddlers held: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday arrested four drug peddlers in Pulwama and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that a police party during patrolling at Tenghar area of Pulwama intercepted four suspicious persons who tried to escape from the spot after noticing police party, but were apprehended tactfully.
They have been identified as Junaid Ahmad Ganaie son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Chatapora, Umer Feroz Bhat son of Feroz Ahmad Bhat resident of Pulwama near Wani Masjid, Aijaz Ahmad Thoker son of Ab Majeed resident of Old Bus Stand Pulwama and Qaisar Nazir Mir son of Nazir Ahmad Mir resident of Mughalpora Pulwama.
During search, officers were able to recover 49 bottles of codeine phosphate from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, the spokesman said.
In another action, a police party acting swiftly following an input conducted a raid in village Rakh Litter. During search 20Kgs of Bang-Patri was recovered from the residential house of Rayees Ahmad Thoker son of Abdul Rashid Thoker resident of Rakh Litter. The accused is at large and efforts are on to effect his arrest.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in respective police stations and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
