Tral-Gamraz road in shambles, locals suffer

Pulwama: The road connecting Gamraz and several other villages with the highway in Tral town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is in shambles since the past more than ten years with authorities falling to repair it, locals alleged.
They said that a two kilometers long road from Gamraz to Tral which connects several villages with Tral is in dilapidated and the concerned authorities have been turning a blind eye towards it.
“The authorities have not taken up any development works or resurfacing of the road in the area, resulting in the population of thousands of people are facing hardships.
Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of Gamraz said that there are potholes on this road while whenever there are rains they are unable to walk over it as it remain full of mud and water.
He said this road was under the Roads and Buildings Department who had worked on it earlier but later it was given to PMGSY who haven’t worked on it at all.
He said the drivers have stopped plying their vehicles on the road due to which students and elderly people are suffering a lot.
The people have to undergo a lot trouble and in case of any health emergency or maternity cases they suffer a lot, locals said.
Despite living close to Tral town, we have been neglected on all developmental fronts and no attention is being given towards our area, they added.
They added that this issue has been brought in notice of concerned higher ups several times but to no avail.
They once again requested higher ups to look into the matter and repair the road at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief
