World AIDS: Day JKACS organises various activities

JAMMU: As part of the World AIDS Day 2021, Project Director, J&K AIDS Control Society (JKACS) and other officials called on Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar Wednesday and pinned the Red Ribbon on the Advisor.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Bhatnagar said that on World AIDS Day we all need to show solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS by taking pledge to ‘End Inequalities, End AIDS, End Pandemics’ which is the theme of this years World AIDS Day. He added that special focus should be made on reaching people left behind in accessing essential HIV services which is core objective of Red Ribbon campaign.
Advisor Bhatnagar also appreciated the JKACS for their Red Ribbon campaign which marks the Universal symbol of awareness and support for people living with HIV. The Advisor also held a detailed interaction with Project Director, JKACS on overall scenario of AIDS across J&K.
In the meanwhile, to commemorate the World AIDS Day today, JKACS organised several functions and events across J&K in which several activities were held for awareness of general public.
At Kala Kendra, Bikram Chowk here, the function was inaugurated by Project Director JKACS, Dr. Samir Mattoo, in which different activities were held.
As part of the function, on spot acrylic as well as water colour painting competitions were held in which students from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu participated. Also, Red Ribbon Club members from different Nursing and para-medical institutions participated in the on spot rangoli making competition. Apart from these activities, Posters made by students from different institutes were also displayed at the Kala Kendra for exhibition besides a small documentary on the overall working of JKACS was also showcased for the information of the visitors.
On the occasion, a big size Red Ribbon Logo insignia, IEC stalls, walk-in testing for covid and HIV and red ribbon logo made of candles were some of other activities held to commemorate this day.
In addition to this, functions were also organized at districts’ level by the concerned Chief Medical Officers both in J&K and Ladakh UTs to commemorate the day.
Certificates and Prize money were also given to the winners of different competitions and mementoes were also presented to felicitate different stake holders who have a significant role in containing the spread of HIV in the UT of J&K.
Pertinently, this year the theme of the day is “End inequalities, End AIDS, End Pandemics” with special focus on reaching people left behind in accessing essential HIV services.
Meanwhile, the officials of JKACS also participated in the launch of third phase of New India @75 (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) virtually from JKACS Jammu office.
Union Minister, Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in presence of MOS, Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar launched the third phase of New India @75.
