Police arrests timber smuggler in Ganderbal
Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal arrested a timber smuggler and seized illicit timber at Waniarm Wangath area of the district, a police spokesman said.
He said that acting on specific input about timber smuggling at Waniarm Wangath, a police party raided a particular spot and seized illicit timber from a person identified as Ghulam Mohammad Khan son of Mohammad Akbar Khan resident of Waniarm Wangath Kangan. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 139/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation set into motion. Moreover, efforts are on to nab the persons involved in the commission of crime.
The drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of green gold. Our consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities, the spokesman added.
