Pulwama: Even after a lapse of over nine years, a very vital power receiving station in Zewan area located on the Srinagar outskirts is awaiting completion.
Locals from the area said that the work on the receiving station was started in 2021 but it was left mid way and no attention is being given towards it.
They said that work on the receiving station was stopped in 2015 much before the receiving station could be fully prepared for commissioning.
“Since then the locals have been awaiting with bated breath to see the receiving station being completed and commissioned,” Rayees Ahmad, a local resident said.
“Successive governments have failed to complete the receiving station in the area due to which people of the area are suffering,” Abbas Ahmad, another local resident added.
He said that nine years have passed since work was started on the station but still 50 percent of the work is yet to be completed.
Locals said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities’ umpteen times but to no avail.
They said that they were several times assured that work will be resumed but on ground nothing changed.
The locals once again requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter and complete the construction work as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, an official of the department said that due to paucity of the funds, work has been put on halt and once payment will be released by the concerned authorities, work will be resumed at once.
