Awareness, registration programme for un-organized workers held

Over 21k unorganized workers registered on e-SHRAM in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: District Administration Srinagar Monday organized a special programme on e-SHRAM Portal for Awareness and Registration of unorganized Workers of Agriculture Workers, Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) and Part time employees etc., here.
The programme was organized on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad by District Administration in joint collaboration of Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner and Agriculture Department in the Meeting Hall of Directorate of Agriculture Department Lal Mandi.
Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Kashmir Shahid Iqbal, District Agricultural Extension Officer Asifa Nabi, AEOs and other officers were present, while unorganized Workers of Agriculture Department, DRWs, Part time employees also participated in the Awareness cum Registration program.
On the occasion, The Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) said that Facilitation Counter will be established in every Zone of the Department so that the maximum number of Agricultural Workers is registered on e-SHRAM Portal.
During the programme, the Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Arshid Qadir gave a detailed presentation on the process and benefits of getting registered on e-SHRAM Portal to the participants including scores of unorganized Workers of Agriculture Department, DRWs and Part time employees.
The ALC said that special camps and awareness programmes are being organised for the purpose through the Common Service Centres (CSC) across the district Srinagar. He said Registration on the e-SHRAM portal requires Aadhaar details, bank account number linked with Aadhar card and age limit of 16 to 59.
He further informed the participants that it is the first-ever National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW) created by Ministry of Labour and Employment to register the Un-organized Workers including migrant workers, construction workers, domestic help, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, Street vendors, Rickshaw pullers, Farmers, Agricultural labourers, Animal husbandry workers, Barbers, weavers, Carpenters, Brick kiln, Quarry workers, Saw mill workers, Vegetable and Fruit vendors, Newspapers vendors, Auto drivers, Sericulture workers, housemaids and other such workers to get benefits of the Government schemes.
On the occasion, the ALC informed that till date more than 21000 unorganized Workers have been registered in Srinagar District and further registrations are going on so that they are covered for the Government benefits.
