Police arrests two drug peddlers in Budgam, Awantipora

Srinagar: Police on Thursday arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and Awantipora areas and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesman said that a police party established a check point at Kakawring Crossing where they intercepted a vehicle (Maruti-800) bearing registration No JKO4A-7629 with one person onboard.
The person was identified as Shabir Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ahsan Bhat resident of Nowhar Char-i-sharief. During checking, officers were able to recover 10grams of Heroin and 400 Spasmoproxyvon capsules from the said vehicle. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman said.
Similarly, police received specific information that a person identified as Subzar Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Akbar Dar resident of Kandizal Awantipora has indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house, the spokesman added.
On receipt of this information, a Police party alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the specific location. During search, officers were able to recover 35Kgs of grinded Cannabis powder from the said residential house. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in respective Police Stations and investigations have been initiated, the spokesman said
