Anantnag youth to represent India in 2022 Olympics event

Anantnag: A youth hailing from Sangam hamlet of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district is all set to represent India at the 2022 Olympics. He will eb participating in the arm wrestling event.
Zahoor Ahmad Wani, a resident of Check-e-Panjpora in Sangam area has already represented India in disabled cricket team at international level. He shone in the event after he won at the national championship that was held in Kerala. His win meant his entry in Olympics where he will be representing India.
Zahoor, while talking to ‘Kashmir Vision’ said that he has faced many challenges in his life.
“I had always a keen interest in sports and in my heart of hearts I always knew that I will excel in this field,” he said.
He said that it was his parents who always supported him to take part in sports activities after which he was selected for participation in the team of specially abled cricketers and represented India at international level.
He said that despite playing at International level he did not receive the encouragement and support that he expected from the government.
“I skipped cricket and switched to other games with the hope that government will help me,” he said, adding that he has recently won gold medal in national championship in Kerala in arm wrestling (hand power).
“After the win I was informed through a letter that I have been selected for 2022 Olympics which is scheduled to be held in Japan,” he added.
He said that he is hopeful that he will perform well there and bring laurels for Jammu and Kashmir and his country.
