Leh: To achieve completion of works under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) by August 15 next year, Ladakh authorities have started delivering High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes through air sorties in remote areas of Leh district, officials said on Saturday.
Leh recently achieved 20 percent coverage in providing functional household tap connections, while 10 villages in the district have seen 100 percent saturation under the JJM.
A Pawan Hans helicopter with the JJM equipment and material made successful sorties to snow-bound Dipling village in Singay Lalock block of Leh on Friday, officials said.
They said the services of the private helicopter was sought by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (Leh) and district administration, Leh, to ensure timely completion of JJM works in the remote villages, which are still unconnected through road connectivity, making it a a huge challenge to send material.
Works are ongoing in most of the villages in Leh district as the local administration is making all efforts to achieve the deadline of August 15, 2022.
