Police organises Cybercrime Awareness Programme

Srinagar: In view of the surge in cyber crime related incidents, Police in Pulwama organized an awareness programme at SDPO office Litter in Pulwama on Saturday, a police spokesman said.
The awareness programme was organised under the supervision of SDPO Litter in which citizens of the area, bank employees, teachers, sarpanchs, numberdars, employees from health department and students participated.
On the occasion, experts from IT, CCTNS, Cyber Cell of DPO Pulwama shared present cyber threats/activities viz, data stealing, cyber stalking, humiliation of women, spreading pornography etc. among the participants, the spokesman said.
Experts also shed light on the steps about how to protect ourselves from these cyber frauds. Pamphlets containing the whole security system against the cybercrime were also distributed among the participants. Moreover, chairing officers and bank officials also shared some important phone numbers among the participants and requested them to contact in case of any cyber threat/fraud or any other cyber security intimidation so that they can be helped as earliest as possible, the spokesman added.
Pertinently, this was the second awareness programme related to cybercrime as a similar programme was organized at Kakapora on 28th October, the spokesman said.
