Anantnag: The Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of Jammu and Kashmir Bank installed at Jablipora in Bijbehara hamlet of Anantnag district has been troubling people as locals allege that it remains non-functional on most of the days.
The locals said that due to defunct ATM, the people from Jablipora have to visit Bijbehara, Anantnag and other distant places for cash withdrawal.
Some locals blame bank officials for deliberately setting ATM machine out of work or setting transaction limits and pacifying them by saying that there is shortage of cash.
Locals said that they are not being able to withdraw money at ATM Jablipora and they have to go to Bijbehara on daily basis.
Customers say that the ATM remains mostly defunct despite being close to the highway and located at a prime location.
“Despite our complaints on daily basis, the ATM remains non-functional most of the time and it does not work for several days altogether ,” Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, a local resident said.
“We have brought this issue into the notice of higher ups in the JK Bank several times but to no avail,” he added.
