Chersoo residents demand upgradation of 100 KVA transformer

Pulwama: The residents of Muslim Abaad Chersoo area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded upgradation of 100 KVA transformer in the area.
The residents said that existing 100 KVA transformer often develops technical snag due to heavy load with the onset of winter and the inhabitants have to bear with dark nights during the chilly cold winter.
They said that since last three years they have been taking up this issue with the concerned higher ups but to no avail.
Mushtaq Ahmad, a local resident said due to heavy load on existing transformer, it develops snag frequently especially during the winter months.
He said that during the last 15 days the transformer got damaged three times and the student community had to bear the brunt as most of them are facing examinations but cannot study during the night hours.
Another local said that there are around 100 households besides dozens of shops which are getting supply from the existing transformer but due to heavy load most of times it remains defunct.
He said three years back a new transformer was sanctioned for the area but due to unknown reasons it wasn’t installed.
Locals demanded that government must look into the matter at an earliest and upgrade the existing transformer from 100 KVA to 250 KVA.
They demanded personal intervention of Chief Engineer PDD and concerned Executive Engineer in this regard.
