Awantipora Hospital building completed, left abandoned
Pulwama: A hospital building which was constructed years back in Hariparigam area of Awantipora is lying in dilapidated condition now as authorities have failed to utilize it for the purpose it was meant to be, locals have alleged.
The locals from Hariparigam village said that the building was completed years back with huge amount of money spent by the government but due to unknown reasons the building has been left abandoned.
“Despite that the hospital building was completed it hasn’t been made functional as of now,” Nadeem, a local resident said.
“As years have passed now and it was left abandoned the windows, doors besides washrooms and electric wiring and other things have suffered damage but nobody cares,” said Mehraj Ahmad, another local resident.
He said that even building is now used by drug addicts due to which eve teasing incidents are common in the area besides that students of the nearby school especially girls also feel insecure.
“We have brought this issue in notice of concerned authorities several times but no attention is being provided towards it,” said another local.
Officials in last few years have visited here twice but nothing was done on ground so that the building is put to use, he added.
Locals have now once again requested the higher ups to look into the issue at an earliest and make the building functional so that the people can avail the services that are to be offered to them here.
