Amid incessant rains, south Kashmir faces power outage

Around 90 percent power supply restored in south Kashmir: Officials

Pulwama: Amid the incessant rains, dozens of areas of south Kashmir are facing power outrage since last 24 hours while officials claimed that around 90 percent feeders have been restored and work was going on to restore electricity in the remaining areas.
People from different areas of Dooru, Kokernag, Pahalgam, Qazigund, DHpora, Watchi, Rakh, Chodrigund, Keller, Shadimarg, Kakapora Tral and other areas of south Kashmir said that there is no power supply in the area since the last 24 hours.
They said that despite that there were only rains in most of the areas but authorities have failed to restore the power supply in the areas.
Tawseef Ahmad, a resident of Rakh village in Pulwama district said that since last 8 pm on Friday , there is no word about power supply in the area.
Umar Hussain, a resident of Keller area of Shopian also said that since last 24 hours theie area has remained in the dark as power was snapped after it started to rain.
People from Kund, DH pora and Pahalgam area also alleged failure in the power supply and demanded its restoration.
When contacted, Ghulam Rasool Khanday Superintending Engineer Anantnag and Kulgam sector said that out of 35 receiving stations in Anantnag 34 are functional while as out of 12 receiving stations in Kulgam eight are functional.
He said that work is going on to restore supply in all pending areas.
Lateef Ahmad, Superintending Engineer Pulwama and Shopian sector said that around 90 percent of the receiving stations are functional while as work is going on to restore Shadimarg station in Pulwama besides Chodrigund, Aglar and Keller stations in Shopian.
He added that pending areas will receive power supply till late evening or Sunday morning.
