Srinagar Airport is all set to start the operation of international flights from October 23rd which will connect Kashmir directly with rest of the world. This decision has come at a time when the world has started to open up after almost two years of closure and restrictions on the movement of people due to the covid pandemic.
Just yesterday senior officials of the administration and airport authority held a meeting regarding operation of international flights from Srinagar international Airport and necessary arrangements needed to put in place besides management of passengers in view of pandemic situation.
Officially the operation of international flights will start from October 23rd which will connect Kashmir directly with rest of the world meaning the tourists who longed to visit the paradise on earth will get a chance to drop in directly at Srinagar without facing any hassles of travel and other procedures to reach here.
The official’s in-charge have already laid out a plan for operation and regulation of activities at the airport. Besides, the management of passengers during the arrival and departure of domestic and international flights have also been reviewed with special focus on arrangements for immigration and customs.
Kashmir tourism will no doubt be the most benefitted by the move as the tourist footfall will surely increase tremendously. The announcement of the international flights being worked out directly from Srinagar will attract an international traveler who had over the past many years shown some reluctance to visit the place.
The start of the international flights will also ensure a hassle free and less time consuming travels for the natives of this place as well as people from Kashmir are settled across the globe and this facility will ensure that they too will enjoy the hassle free travel to their homeland.
International flights from Srinagar airport was a long cherished dream of the people here. Though a beginning was made some years back but the idea did not work out owing to various reasons including lack of travel and other facilities required at the international airports.
The result was that after several months of operations, international flights were grounded from Srinagar airport and the hopes connected with the move of increasing tourist footfall too crashed with it.
However, as a fresh beginning has been made it is all the more important that the operations are managed on scientific and modern lines and all facilities that are otherwise required at international airports are provided to the travelers and they do not face any hassles’ during their travel.
Besides, the authorities should also focus on providing night landing and other facilities which are required during winter months with pin point precision and accuracy so that flight operations at the airport witness minimum disruptions due to weather related issues.
