Two cops injured in militant attack in Kulgam

Srinagar: Two cops were injured after suspected militants fired upon a police party in Manzgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.
Official sources said that militants attack a police party in Manzgam by firing indiscriminately towards them. In this incident two policemen were injured, who where shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the whole area was cordoned off to nab the fleeing militants, they said.
Hospital sources also confirmed the injury to the two cops saying that both are out of danger.
Earlier militants managed to give slip to the forces after they were trapped during a search operation at Methan area of Chanpora during the wee hours of Saturday.
“Militants have escaped after a brief exchange of fire in Methan area of Chanpora Srinagar,” officials said.
A senior police official said that “it seems that militants have fled” from the area. However, he said, searches in the area and its vicinity are continuing.
Police in a tweet had said that “second encounter” has started at Methan area of Srinagar. “Police and CRPF are on the job. Further details shall follow,” police had said in a tweet at 1:18 a.m.
The “encounter” followed one near Natipora Srinagar in which police said a Lashker-e-Toiba militant from Shopian was killed while another escaped.
