Pulwama: The residents of Pulwama town of south Kashmir demanded widening of main road from Drusoo to Prichoo.
Locals said that due to the narrow road traffic jams have become order of the day besides that there is no path for pedestrians to walk along the road during busy hours.
They said that umpteen times the concerned officials were apprised about the issue but so far they have failed to show any seriousness towards addressing the issue.
“You can come anytime in the day and you will witness a heavy traffic jam around Murran Chowk,” said Zakir Ahmad, a local resident.
He said that as road hasn’t been widened there are no foot paths available for the people to move freely.
He added that need of the hour to widen the road so that people can get rid of traffic jam as well as they will get foot paths to walk on.
The administration is doing commendable job to deal with the traffic mess in the area but due to very narrow road at some places, it becomes very difficult for pedestrians to move, the locals added.
Locals from Prichoo, Malikpora, Dangarpora, Washbugh and Drusoo alleged that R&B department has failed to take up the widening of this vital road.
They requested higher ups including District Development Commissioner to look into the matter at an earliest and widen the vital road so that locals as well as pedestrians can heave a sigh of relief.
