Illicit timber recovered by police in Rafiabad
Sopore: Police acting against illegal timber smuggling, seized illicit forest timber in Rohama area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a police spokesman said.
He said that acting on a specific information about timber smuggling in Rafiabad, a police party along with employees of forest Department established a naka at Rohama area and intercepted a tata mobile vehicle bearing registration number JKO5H -7897.
During the search of the said vehicle large quantity of illicit forest timber was recovered from the vehicle. During the operation two persons identified as Musadiq Farooq and Ubaid Farooq sons of Farooq Ahmad Dar of Malganipora Pazalpora Rafiabad were also arrested, the spokesman added.
In this regard Case FIR No. 111/2021 U/S 379 IPC & 26 Indian Forest Act has been registered in PS Panzla. Investigation of the case is going on, the spokesman said.
