Frequent snags in transformer irks Qazigund villagers

Anantnag: The residents of Churat village in Qazigund hamlet of south Kashmir are up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) alleging that the department has failed to provide them with high capacity electric transformer.
According to the locals, the existing 63 KVA transformer is developing technical snags frequently due to which they are forced to live under darkness.
They said they have been demanding a high capacity transformer in the area since long now but no attention is being given towards their demand.
The locals said that at present 63 KVA transformer is installed in Mir Mohalla, however, it develops technical snags frequently due to which locals face hardships.
“One day our transformer is being repaired but the very next day it gets damaged again and again and same process continues now since many months,” said a local resident.
He said that due to heavy load on the transformer, it gets damaged frequently.
Another local said that 63 KVA transformer was installed in the area long back nd since then the population and the number of households has more than tripled.
Locals demanded that government must take cognizance of the issue before winter and install a high capacity transformer in the area.
