Gunfight rages in Shopian village, one militant killed
Srinagar, Oct 01: One militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter at Rakhama area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said Friday.
They said that one militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter, however the identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.
Earlier reports said that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Rakhama village during the wee hours of Friday.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.
Meanwhile, the operation is continuing as forces have tightened the cordon.
