Bijbehara residents demand upgradation of dispensary
Anantnag: The residents of Bewoora village of Bijbehara hamlet in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have demanded upgradation of the government dispensary in the area.
Locals said that 20 years back a dispensary was started in the area but since then it hasn’t been upgraded despite the population in the area increasing manifold.
They said that only one nurse is posted at the dispensary and except first aid no facility is available there.
They added that Bewoora is huge village with population in thousands but in absence of medical facilities, they are suffering and have to rush to SDH Bijbehara or Anantnag for seeking treatment.
They added that they have already brought up the issue in notice of higher authorities several times but to no avail.
Locals said that area is financially backward and in absence of medical facilities they are forced to visit other district hospitals.
Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Shah when contacted said that he will take up the issue with higher ups and very soon steps will be taken for the up-gradation of the dispensary.
